On behalf of the forgotten Eritrean Refugees in Sudan and on behalf of IRFAN Canada I would like to thank you for your generosity and support during the Udhia Campaign for 2009. With the help of Allah SWT and your support IRFAN Canada was able to send about $45,000.00 Canadian to Sudan for Udhia this year. The amount collected this year for Sudan was about $25,000.00 and all funds collected went to the Eritrean Refugees.  IRFAN Canada sent an additional $20,000.00 to the refugees in Dar-four.

The four perfect women recognized by Islam are well known by Muslims. They are: the Virgin Mary, the mother of Prophet Jesus, Asya, the wife of Pharaoh, Lady Khadijah, the Prophet's first wife, and Lady Fatimah, the youngest daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Fatimah the daughter of Prophet Muhammad, in particular, was a young girl during the time Islam was introduced. So from her youth — as a daughter, later a wife and a mother — the perfection of a Muslim as defined by Islam surfaces through Lady Fatimah. (By Mansour Abubaker: Abu Taissier) Islam is a religion based upon knowledge as Allah SWT said in the Quran, 2:239 “He has taught you that which (heretofore) you knew not.” The Quran is replete with verses inviting Muslims and non-Muslims to use their intellect, to ponder, to think and know for the goal of human life. The Hadith literature is also full of references to the importance of knowledge: “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave” and “Verily the men of knowledge are the inheritors of the prophets”, have echoed throughout the Muslim World and the history of Islam and incited Muslims to seek knowledge wherever it might be found and be assured that knowledge never stops from reviving and developing. If that is the case so why are the majority of Muslims so far behind today?

Ismail) A few days ago as I sat nonchalant reading an article for a class at one of the many cafes that litter the university campus I attend, I happened to overhear two Somali sisters conversation. One of the sisters was modestly dressed while the other was a more modern ‘liberal’ minded sister. After talking about their courses, professors, and future ambitions (they were both political science majors and wanted to go on to law school), the topic soon turned to love and marriage. “There are no Somali guys worth marrying,” the liberal sister stated.This opinion piece, by Y.
